It has been a crazy and wonderful summer... It is nuts to think about the fact that our five weeks has so quickly come to an end. It has been an amazing summer filled with learning and play. One of the highlights for us has been our connection with the New Haven Community Library. Partnering with them has resulted in several great opportunities on a weekly basis. This week we wrapped up together by talking about what we can do to make the world a better place. Students made t-shirts aligned with this theme.

Week 4: Raptors Come to Beeman
Hi Everyone!
We had another exciting week at camp this week and it was made even more so by having a visit from the Vermont Institute of Natural Science. VINS came to see us and brought with them a trio of raptors that were bred for or rescued and now serving as educational birds. Students enjoyed listening to all of the great stories that each bird had about where they came from. The presenter was fantastic about taking student questions and the birds were beautiful and calm. Many community members came out for this even that was organized by the New Haven Community Library. We are SO grateful to have been able to take part.

Week 3: Soaking Up the Sun!
Hello Everyone!
We have had a pretty wet summer so far... But we have really lucked out at ELP and had only a few rainy days. The sun has been so gorgeous this week and students have been anxious to get outside and stay there, YAY!
Students have spent time going for Nordic walks with Sabine, building forts and perfecting their golf / tennis game with Jared and soaking up the sun at morning meeting.
Students have spoken enthusiastically of feeling better when the sun is out and we all agree :) We have had discussions about appreciating the seasons and taking the time to enjoy moments, particularly of sunshine!

Week 2: Establishing Tradition
Greetings!
Week two felt great, we really hit our stride as a camp and it was so nice to have the same faces from week one join us to help build community. Part of what helps us to build community, aside from spending time with the wonderful students, is to have traditions.
Our tradition building at ELP so far has been to have a morning meeting each day, eat lunch together staff and students, a weekly reflection time where we share our highlights, and a Friday kickball game :) Students and staff come together across the grades to form two teams and face off in a Friday game. Due to weather conditions we were inside last week, but that did not halt the fun. It's really awesome to see students work together with teachers and play as team mates.

Week 1: Splendid Summer
Greetings Monkton, Lincoln and New Haven Families!
We are off to a great start this summer and we are SO excited to share about all of the awesome things we are doing!!!
Students participated in a variety of engaging activities last week. These ranged from yoga on the basketball court, to electric circuitry, German fairy tales, a Georgia O'Keeffe study and more.
At the end of the week we came together as a group to celebrate all of the great learning we participated in by doing our first group reflection. We talked about the concept of reflection and what it means to reflect on our personal experiences, this will be something we continue to discuss throughout the summer.
In addition to having a discussion students evaluated their experiences on a program called LIFT. This is a personalized learning portfolio where students can input their feedback and feelings on different aspects of the classes. These components include how they perceived the level of learning, fun, community and safety to be.
